Amid ice and snow, several female workers climb up a pylone to do maintenance work on a 1000kV ultra-high voltage power line in Inner Mongolia's Xilingol League.
Nicknamed “steel roses” by locals, they are the first female workers to do ultra-high voltage electricity transmission work in China. The job is not just dangerous due to the heights at which they work: the power line also transmits over 1000kV of electricity, the highest level in the world.
